Julia Raath is a textile print designer who lives in Melbourne,  Australia. She has extensive experience teaching design in the Higher and Vocational Education sectors in Australia and India. Throughout her teaching career, she maintained her art and design practice and has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, markets, and studio sales. Her designs lean to floral, geometric, and abstract designs and she enjoys working with colour.

After a 30-year career as a teacher and academic, she returned to the world of creative practice which includes; working on a range of collaborative design projects, producing limited edition screen and block-printed textiles and paintings.  She continues to run small group print workshops at the Sunshine Print Artspace.

The connections she has made through her textile and teaching practice are significant and enduring and she believes she had been very fortunate to work in a field that she loves and she has collaborated with educators and students in India on a range of projects which include design and product development with artisans.
